FAQs!
Q: Does insurance usually cover the cost of a dietitian visit?
A: Yes! Most insurance companies cover the cost of dietitian visits. Approximately 90% of my clients pay $0 out of pocket for unlimited sessions. Coverage is plan dependant and you may have costs associated if you have not met your deductible. However, benefit checks are completed prior to your first visit so you know exactly what your coverage is and any associated costs.
Q: How do I sign up to become a client?
A: Head to the "Book with Me" section and choose the link appropriate for you (insurance coverage or cash pay). You will then be prompted to set up an account with Berry Street. This is HIPAA compliant platform I use to conduct video visits, communicate with clients and doctors offices, and complete video calls. Once you create an account, you will need to complete the following steps:
1. Complete your profile with Name, Date of Birth, Address and photos of insurance cards (front and back).
2. Once this is uploaded, you will receive confirmation of your benefits coverage within 24-48 hours.
3. Paige will reach out to you to schedule your first session! Please note, if trying to self-book, she keeps limited availability to do so. It works best when you work with her directly to find an appointment time that works for you!
Q: What can I expect at a nutrition counseling session?
A: Whether you are meeting me in person or from the comfort of your couch, show up in your favorite comfy clothes. A typical first session lasts between 60-90 minutes and includes reviewing the following:
Past Medical History
Current Medications
Supplements
Discussing nutrition and Health Goals
Typical food choices and eating patterns
Review of previous diets you have tried
Food Journaling
Continuous Glucose Monitoring (if applicable)
Sleep Patterns
Exercise Habits
Goal Setting
After the session you will receive a message through your client portal summarizing our discussion, your goals that you set and any materials that were used during the session.
Q: How frequently will we meet?
A: Frequency of visits is dependent upon your coverage and needs. We will discuss this at your first session once your goals are set. You can expect that the more changes you are working on, the more frequently we meet. Typically most start by meeting every 2-3 weeks and then monthly once they feel they are into a routine and in more of a "maintenance mode." We also will determine frequency based off of your insurance coverage so you can stay within your budget.
Q: Can I bring a friend or family member to the session?
A: Of course! It is great to have support at your sessions and they are more than welcome to join. However, I do ask that the discussion is solely in relation to the client who booked the session.
Q: Do you see pediatric clients?
A: Yes! I have many clients who are under the age of 18 and may meet for sports nutrition, auto-immune diseases, gut health, etc. I do ask that a parent or guardian accompany the child to all visits (virtual and in-person).
Q: Are there any diagnoses you do not see clients for?
A: At this time, I do not see clients who having eating disorders. Eating disorders require a dietitian who specifically focuses on this area, in conjunction with cognitive behavioral therapy. If in the Findlay area, I highly recommend checking out Divergent Dietitian for eating disorder needs.
